| Does using "Mane & Tail" make hair grow faster? - Lana No. Any company with a product making this claim leaves themselves open for some serious false-advertising lawsuits. If you think about it, hair product companies have been searching for this "holy grail" of hair for a very long time, with little success. The bottom line is that the determining factors for how fast your hair grows are physiological. A faster metabolism equals faster hair growth. Hair growth is also influenced by diet, lifestyle, medications, etc.... If you are using horse shampoo for faster growing hair, you have, unfortunately, wasted your money. Trough luck. My hair has tons of "split ends" and I hate them!!!! How do I get rid of them? Split ends occur when the hair fiber degrades thus causing the fiber to "split" in half. Contrary to popular belief, a "split end" is not a split to the end of the hair shaft, but a piece of hair that splits away from the main hair shaft, much like the skin of a banana when you peel it. The truth is that there are NO cures for split ends, despite what hair products claim. A product may be able to coat the hair shaft making the split piece of hair lay down better, but in no way, shape, or form can the split be repaired. That being said, there are a couple of things you can do to camouflage them: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. You can prevent splits by treating the hair carefully when shampooing, brushing, and blow-drying. Never use brushes with plastic bristles that have "balls" on the end. The "balls" on these brushes cause the hair to get tangled when brushing and will definitely cause splits. Limit the frequency of shampooing to no more than 3 times per week. For general hair care tips, click here I just had my first manicure in years & I'm wondering how often I should go to keep my nails healthy - Cristina Most people need a manicure about every two to three weeks. People who work with their hands, or who have their hands in water or chemicals a lot (such as hair stylists), probably could use a manicure once per week. The best "rule of thumb" is to simply look for obvious signs that your nails need attention, like hangnails, for instance. Good home care, such as trimming cuticles, can extend the amount of time in between manicures. Also, a good cuticle oil can keep your nails looking great. By taking care of your nails at home, you may be able to stretch the amount of time between manicure to 4 or 5 weeks. |
